Rafa Nadal Advances to US Open Final to Face Djokovic

Rafa Nadal advances to the U.S. Open Final having lost just one set and has won all 16 of his matches on hardcourt since being upset at Wimbledon. He will face Novak Djokovic in Monday’s U.S. Open men’s final. The world’s top two players will cap the final grand slam of the tennis season. Djokovic’s semifinal victory over Stanislas Wawrinka had been a classic, five-set, teeter-totter. Each won 165 points, exactly, and many of them were wonderful. However, Rafa was able to dispatch France’s Richard Gasquet in straight sets on Saturday. Nadal has only lost one set in this tournament, a tiebreaker to Philipp Kohlschreiber. He didn’t lose one on Saturday. Monday’s tournament decider will be the sixth meeting between Nadal and Djokovic in a grand slam final. Djokovic won three of those — including the last time they met in a U.S. Open final in 2011. It’s their record 37th match against each other.
